Woman swept down Kern River found clinging under rock, rescued from rapids

A woman was rescued from California's Kern River after being swept downstream and found clinging under a rock.

The rescue occurred on July 25 around 3:50 p.m. near mile marker 15 on Highway 178 in Kern River Canyon.

First responders used a life jacket and a flotation device attached to a rope to pull the woman from the water.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office warned that strong currents, cold temperatures, and submerged hazards make the river extremely dangerous.
