Instagram, Facebook ran AI ‘nudify’ ads from China, says report
Meta served thousands of ads for AI ‘nudify’ apps via China-based partner GatherOne Inc., violating Meta's policies banning sexually suggestive ads.
The ads promoted apps that transpose women's faces onto naked bodies and create sexualized videos, with one app flagged for sharing child pornography.
Tech Transparency Project reported about 7,600 such ads were delivered in recent months through GatherOne, one of Meta's few Chinese ad partners.
Meta stated it prohibits non-consensual intimate imagery and nudify apps, and enforces penalties including ad cancellation and account termination for violators.
