Improving public healthcare in Uttar Pradesh: Experts prescribe focus on non-communicable diseases, patient safety

Experts recommended creating dedicated technical divisions and a permanent institutional framework under State Health Systems Resource Centre-Uttar Pradesh (SHSRC-UP) to strengthen policymaking and public healthcare delivery.
Priority domains identified for SHSRC-UP include non-communicable diseases, digital health, quality improvement, patient safety, human resource development, and inter-sectoral collaboration.
The two-day roundtable meet on strategic roadmap development for SHSRC-UP concluded in Lucknow, organized by Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) and the State Transformation Commission.
Emphasis was placed on district-level execution, real-time monitoring dashboards, and integration with flagship programmes like National Health Mission and Ayushman Bharat.
The centre is proposed to evolve into a permanent centre of excellence for health systems research, implementation science, quality improvement, and strategic advisory support.
