Nabanna building signage changes to saffron; part of maintenance, say official

The signage on top of the 14-storey Nabanna state secretariat building was changed from blue to saffron on July 27, 2026.

Officials stated the change was part of maintenance and aesthetic work, with no official notification to repaint the entire building.

The building's blue and white signage was associated with the Trinamool Congress, which was in power for 15 years until the BJP took over in May 2026.

On May 10, 2026, the building was decorated with saffron lights ahead of Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's first administrative meeting.

Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee moved the secretariat from Writers' Buildings to Nabanna in October 2013.
