Palghar Flood Relief Accelerated As District Administration Disburses Aid After Heavy Rains

Palghar district administration accelerated relief after heavy rains in early July and July 22–24, 2026 caused widespread flooding and damage.

Preliminary losses from the first spell were around ₹170 crore, with worst-affected areas including Palghar taluka, Kelwa, and Saphale.

Ex-gratia of ₹48 lakh disbursed to 12 families of 20 flood deaths; ₹3.66 crore given to 7,469 of 15,472 eligible families for inundated homes.

Compensation for damaged houses totaled ₹24.95 lakh for 3 fully collapsed houses, 319 partially damaged pucca houses, and others.

Public Works Department infrastructure losses estimated at ₹148 crore; restoration underway while fresh damage assessment for second spell continues.
