Weightlifting remains India's fortress as Raja Muthupandi clinches Commonwealth Games silver

Raja Muthupandi won silver in the men's 65kg weightlifting at the 2026 Commonwealth Games with a combined 286kg (127kg snatch, 159kg clean and jerk).

Malaysia's Muhamad Aznil Bidin won gold with a record 299kg, completing a rare hat-trick of Commonwealth Games gold medals.

This was India's third weightlifting medal at the 2026 Games, following Mirabai Chanu's gold and Rishikanta Singh's silver.

Raja overcame a failed opening snatch attempt and a ligament tear in his right elbow suffered in 2019 to secure the podium.
