'India always supportive of dialogue and diplomacy': Jaishankar speaks to Iran FM Araghchi

India's External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke with Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, expressing deep concern over the escalating conflict in West Asia.

Jaishankar urged restraint and stressed the need to protect commercial shipping and seafarers, condemning any attacks on them.

Jaishankar reiterated India's support for dialogue and diplomacy, and was apprised of Iran's perspective on current developments.

The conversation followed Iran's claimed drone strikes on US-operated Ahmad al-Jaber Air Base and Ali Al Salem airbase in Kuwait, part of Operation Lightning, in response to a US strike on Qeshm Island.

The US rejected Iran's claims, with CENTCOM stating no American aircraft were damaged and all missiles and drones were intercepted.
