Row over public urination ends in man’s murder

Mohammed Yunus, a 29-year-old mechanic, was arrested for allegedly killing Kumar, a 45-year-old cook, in Bengaluru's Laggere area after an argument over public urination.

The incident occurred on July 28 when Kumar stopped to urinate by the roadside in Kempegowda Layout; Yunus, who worked at a nearby garage, confronted him, leading to a fight.

Yunus allegedly assaulted Kumar twice, pulling him by the shirt collar and causing him to fall, resulting in a fatal head injury; Kumar died later at a private hospital.

Mahalakshmipuram police registered a murder case, used CCTV footage to identify and arrest Yunus, who confessed to the assault but said he had no intention to kill.

The argument stemmed from Yunus's complaint that the area often developed a foul smell due to public urination; the confrontation escalated after Yunus was allegedly abused.
