Mahanadi river dispute with Chhattisgarh may be resolved before Diwali: Odisha CM

Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi expects resolution of the Mahanadi water dispute with Chhattisgarh before Diwali.

A tripartite meeting in New Delhi involving Odisha CM, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai, and Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil led to the agreement.

Both states agreed to resolve all issues related to the Mahanadi, including water sharing, within three months.

The Mahanadi Water Disputes Tribunal has encouraged dialogue and directed mediation by the Ministry of Jal Shakti and Central Water Commission.
