Four men die while cleaning water tank in Assam’s Cachar: Police

Four men died cleaning an underground water tank at an under-construction house in Kumarpara Joynagar, Cachar, Assam.
Police detained property owner Gautam Paul; deceased were Niloy Paul (43), Champu Paul (40), Debashis Paul (41), and Nandan Paul (53).
Prima facie cause of death is suffocation or lack of oxygen, pending postmortem at Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).
Rescue involved SDRF, NDRF, and DDMA; locals protested lack of safety measures by the owner.
A complaint has been registered and investigation is ongoing.
