Sarpatta Parambarai 2 likely a prequel, not sequel

'Sarpatta Parambarai 2' is planned as a prequel, not a sequel, according to actress Dushara Vijayan.

Dushara Vijayan confirmed shooting begins this month and will have a theatrical release, unlike the first film which was released on OTT due to COVID.

The prequel is expected to explore the origins and rivalries of the Sarpatta and Idiyappa boxing clans before Kabilan's entry.

Directed by Pa. Ranjith, the film stars Arya, Dushara Vijayan, Pasupathy, Anupama Kumar, Sanchana Natarajan, John Kokken, and Shabeer Kallarakkal.

Dushara Vijayan reprises her role as Mariyamma in the upcoming installment.
