Lucknow to Kanpur in 45 minutes: New expressway puts connectivity in the fast lane
Union ministers Rajnath Singh and Nitin Gadkari, along with CM Yogi Adityanath, inaugurated the ₹4,500-crore, six-lane Lucknow-Kanpur expressway (National Expressway-6).
The 63-km expressway reduces travel time between Lucknow and Kanpur to 35-45 minutes from nearly three hours.
It features a Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) tolling system using FASTag and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) for non-stop toll collection.
Safety measures include 80+ HD CCTV cameras, 16 Video Incident Detection Systems, speed radars, and centralized traffic management with e-challan issuance.
Conceived in 2018 and executed by PNC Infratech for NHAI, it strengthens connectivity for Uttar Pradesh's proposed State Capital Region (SCR).
