Niti Aayog: Bengaluru traffic challenging, fast-track PRR, suburban rail and airport Metro

Niti Aayog flagged Bengaluru's traffic as challenging and recommended fast-tracking the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), suburban rail (BSRP), and airport Metro projects.

The Investment Friendliness Index report said these projects are critical to improve Bengaluru's quality of life and business environment.

PRR and Metro projects are behind schedule despite multiple deadline extensions.

The suburban rail project, approved in 2020, has not commissioned any of its four corridors yet.

Rail expert Sanjeev Dyamanavar noted that a Metro line to the airport may not reduce congestion, while the airport road traffic has increased in recent years.
