Mohali: Ex-serviceman fires at shopkeeper after argument, arrested

Ex-serviceman Maninderpal Singh allegedly fired at shopkeeper Rajmir in Syalba village, Kharar, on Saturday night.

Rajmir sustained bullet injuries to his abdomen and hand and was rushed to PGIMER, Chandigarh, where surgery was performed; his condition is stable.

The argument occurred at Rajmir's shoe shop; Singh left, returned with his licensed 12-bore rifle, and fired three rounds before fleeing to his house.

Police arrested Singh and seized his licensed rifle; a case under Section 109 (murder bid) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was registered at Block Majri police station.

Investigators suspect Singh was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
