'They'll arrest us at hospitals': PoK protesters risk death over electricity, flour demands

Dozens killed in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) in clashes between security forces and protesters led by the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), demanding cheaper electricity, flour, education, healthcare and other basic services.

The BBC reported severe disruption in Rawalakot, a protest center, with roads blocked, shops shut and internet cut off.

A makeshift clinic treated 50-60 critically injured people since July 27, including 15-20 with gunshot wounds; doctor said protesters avoid hospitals fearing arrest.

Authorities banned JAAC in June, labeling it foreign-funded terrorists; JAAC denies violence and says financial support comes from PoK diaspora, not India.
