Chandigarh: Brace for heavy rain next week

IMD has predicted very heavy rain in isolated parts of Chandigarh on Tuesday with an orange alert.

The city has recorded 240.2 mm rain this season, a 33% deficit against the normal of 359.6 mm for June and July.

IMD director Surender Paul said the monsoon has been weak due to the El Nino effect, but rain activity may improve by end of July.

Maximum temperature on Friday reached 36°C and is expected to rise to 37°C by Monday.
