Engineering CAP seat acceptance fee hike withdrawn

Maharashtra State CET Cell withdrew its decision to increase the seat acceptance fee for engineering admissions under CAP for the 2026–27 academic year.

The fee remains ₹1,000 after the rollback, reversing a proposed graduated structure of ₹1,000–₹3,000.

The withdrawal followed objections from student organisations, parents, and a direction from the state government.

The CET Cell had argued the hike was to discourage seat blocking, citing 35,000 seats blocked in the prior year.
