Three‘drug smugglers’ arrested after encounter in Mohali

Three drug smugglers—Gagan, Jaskaran, and Lakhwinder—were arrested after a brief exchange of fire with police in Mohali on July 28, 2026.

The arrest followed an incident on Saturday when smugglers fired at an anti-narcotics cell team on Landran-Banur Road, injuring constables Paramjit Singh and Jagjit Singh.

Police recovered a .32-bore firearm from the accused and Jaskaran and Lakhwinder sustained bullet injuries in the legs during the encounter.

The accused are residents of Gigemajra and Langoi villages in Mohali district; police are verifying their criminal antecedents and probing other persons involved.

Police conducted raids in Amritsar, Ambala, and Patiala before tracking down the accused.
