Frame guidelines on permissible alterations in flats, HC tells state

Bombay High Court asked Maharashtra government to frame guidelines on permissible alterations in flats without local authority permission.

The court sought clarity on alterations like installing protective grills, amalgamating areas with lightweight materials, and reallocating utility areas.

The bench was hearing a petition by Panvel resident Ravindra Kini against the Panvel Municipal Corporation for not acting on complaints about unauthorised alterations at Neel Sidhi Amarante housing society in Kalamboli.

The court noted large-scale unauthorised constructions in the society and ordered the civic body to act against them.
