Misses CWG gold, makes big Asian Games promise: Berwal vows strong comeback

Narender Berwal won a silver medal in the men's 90+kg boxing at the Commonwealth Games, losing to England's Damar Thomas by a unanimous 5-0 decision.

Berwal vowed to make up for the missed gold at the upcoming Asian Games, saying the defeat motivated him to work harder.

Berwal noted that four Indian boxers (Sumit Kundu, Aditya Yadav, Parveen Hooda, Kapil Pokhariya) lost close 3-2 bouts, and India could have potentially won 14 out of 14 medals.

India's boxing team finished top of the medal standings with a record 10 medals (seven gold, three silver) at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
