Godavari flood intensity to increase; second warning level likely at Dowleswaram on Saturday: APSDMA

Godavari river flood intensity is expected to increase due to heavy upstream rainfall, with a second warning level likely at Dowleswaram on Saturday.
As of Friday evening, water levels were 49.8 feet at Bhadrachalam, 16.3 metres at Kunavaram, and 10.2 metres at Polavaram; inflow and outflow at Dowleswaram Cotton Barrage were over 8.3 lakh cusecs.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has alerted district administrations of East and West Godavari, Konaseema, Kakinada, Eluru, and Polavaram.
Three NDRF and three SDRF teams are deployed at Amalapuram, Rajamahendravaram, Chintoor, VR Puram, and Jangareddygudem for emergency response.
Residents in low-lying and lanka villages are advised to move to safer locations, and toll-free helplines 112, 1070, and 1800 425 0101 are available.
