MCD to use 3D mapping to identify property tax defaulters in Delhi

in5points
  1. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will launch a pilot project using 3D mapping and digital surveys to identify property tax defaulters and expand its tax base.

  2. The pilot will cover one ward each in four MCD zones: Karol Bagh, Narela, Rohini, and Shahdara South.

  3. The survey will digitally catalogue every property, recording location, built-up area, number of floors, and property tax status.

  4. The 3D mapping will help detect cases where owners have not paid property tax or under-reported built-up area by paying for fewer floors.

  5. MCD records show tax received from only 1.4 million properties in 2025-26 against 3.25 million liable properties.
