Supreme Court relaxes order mandating Coalgate appeals only before itself, allows Delhi high court to hear them

The Supreme Court modified its 12-year-old order mandating that all appeals in coal block scam cases be filed only before the Supreme Court, now allowing appeals to be heard by the Delhi High Court.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana reasoned that the Supreme Court cannot denude the high court's constitutional power to hear appeals against trial court orders.
