Car kills girl crossing road in Bengaluru to go to school

A 10-year-old girl, Likhitha S, a class 4 government school student, was fatally knocked down by a Maruti Swift car in Beeravara village, Nelamangala taluk, Bengaluru.

The accident occurred at 8.45am on Thursday while she was crossing the road on her way to school, accompanied by her elder aunt and cousin.

Likhitha had forgotten her pen and was returning to get it when the car, travelling at high speed from Nelamangala towards Kunigal, hit her.

Her father Srikanth, a mason, said he raised three daughters through hard work and was devastated by the loss.

Residents have been demanding a skywalk at the spot due to frequent crossings by children and women.
