Pune: Police Launch Anti-Drug Crackdown Around Schools & Colleges; Commissioner Warns Against E-Cigarette Use

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar launched a crackdown on tobacco and narcotics sales near schools and colleges under the COTPA Act, 2003.

Kumar ordered police to identify and act against shops selling tobacco within 100 metres of educational institutions within 24 hours.

Students caught with e-cigarettes should be expelled and their parents informed, as e-cigarette use among students is a growing concern.

Additional CP (Crime) Tejasvi Satpute was directed to create a database of private hostels and paying guest accommodations to prevent drug abuse.

WhatsApp groups will be formed for police and school/college authorities to enable quick reporting and response to drug-related concerns.
