SC summons top Arunachal govt officials in probe against Khandu

The Supreme Court summoned the chief secretary and principal secretary (home) of Arunachal Pradesh government over non-cooperation with a CBI probe.

The CBI probe investigates allegations that Chief Minister Pema Khandu favoured firms linked to his family in government contract awards.

The court noted non-cooperation despite directions issued on April 6, and the bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta ordered the officials to appear on August 24.

The court questioned the lack of progress, asking why a case was not registered, while the CBI stated it had not received crucial records from the state.

The petitioner's counsel argued that material already collected warranted a regular criminal case.
