After 2-day hiatus, M’luru-B’luru rail link restored

Rail operations were restored late Monday on the ghat section between Bengaluru and Mangaluru after a two-day standstill, following a landslip.

The track was certified fit at 7:25pm, with a 10kmph speed restriction and loco pilots cautioned to dead stop at every station.

Train No. 17378 Mangaluru Central-Vijayapura Express was the first train to cross the affected section after the landslip.

Rail operations between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road were halted Saturday night after mud and debris fell on the track between Yedakumari and Shirivagilu stations.

The landslip caused significant delays for two trains: Kozhikode-KSR Bengaluru Express departed about 4.5 hours late, and Train No. 16511 SMVT Bengaluru-Kozhikode was shifted to start from Yeshwantpur.
