DU allows 4-year UG grads direct PhD admissions

University of Delhi approved direct PhD admission for students who completed a four-year undergraduate degree under UGCF 2022.

The decision was taken at the 1027th Academic Council meeting chaired by vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh, following a recommendation by the Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council.

Some Academic Council members submitted a dissent note arguing the amendment does not clearly specify how reservation norms apply to direct PhD admissions.

The Academic Council approved the Late Shri Arun Jaitley Scholarship for undergraduate students excelling in sports, with three scholarships annually for 20 years from a corpus of ₹10 lakh.

School of Open Learning was renamed as Centre for Distance and Online Education, with the head's designation changed from Principal to Director.
