Can't force parents to create Apaar IDs for students: Supreme Court

Supreme Court ruled that parents cannot be forced to create Apaar IDs for their children under the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry scheme.

The Court will pass an order to include an 'opt out' option in consent forms for Apaar ID, following an Orissa High Court directive.

Senior advocate Indira Jaising argued that requiring Aadhaar for Apaar violates the right to privacy, citing the K S Puttaswamy case.
