Four picnickers were rescued after being stranded on an island in the Handikundi area of Khandwa district, Madhya Pradesh, following a sudden rise in river water levels due to heavy rains.
The stranded individuals were Huzefa Hamid (40), Mayank alias Gopal (16), Ali Asgar (35), and Ayush (18).
During the 11-hour operation, the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF) delivered life jackets, food, and drinking water to the island using drones.
The rescue was completed at around 4:45 am on Friday after the water level partially receded, allowing a motorboat to reach the island.
