The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has advised state RERA authorities to grant a four-month extension to real estate projects affected by the West Asia conflict.
The advisory, issued on July 31, cites Section 6 of the RERA Act, which allows extension in cases of Force Majeure, including war, and the Department of Expenditure's classification of the situation as war.
Eligible projects are those with original, revised, or previously extended completion dates on or after February 28, 2026.
State RERA authorities may issue a common order covering all eligible projects, rather than requiring individual applications.
The move aims to provide relief to developers facing construction delays due to global supply chain disruptions.
