Head constable Somashekhar of Pulakeshinagar traffic police station was suspended for taking a Rs 5,000 bribe from truck driver Syed Afroz.
Afroz was booked under Section 285 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for obstructing traffic, which required a court penalty, but Somashekhar allegedly demanded cash to release the vehicle.
Afroz and his friend secretly recorded the cash transaction after Somashekhar refused digital payment.
Despite paying the bribe, a case was still registered against Afroz, requiring court appearance and fine.
Somashekhar was suspended on July 21 after a preliminary inquiry by DCP (traffic-east) Sahil Bagla.
