SIR survey team assaulted in Bengaluru's DJ Halli; 2 arrested

Two individuals, Yarab and Dastagir, were arrested for assaulting government officials in Bengaluru's DJ Halli police limits.

The assault occurred while a GBA team was conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise near Kausar Masjid in Roshan Nagar on July 30, 2026.

Dastagir allegedly demanded an SIR form but was refused because he had shifted residence to Jayanagar; he then argued and, with Yarab, assaulted official Pakeerappa, causing bleeding injuries to his face and eyes.

Both accused were booked by the DJ Halli Police for attacking officials while discharging official duties; further investigation is underway.
