Man booked for trying to deposit fake Rs 500 notes in Bengaluru

Six counterfeit Rs 500 notes were found in an ICICI Bank cash deposit machine in west Bengaluru.

The depositor, identified as Babu M, deposited cash at the branch on 80-Foot Road in Chandra Layout on May 6.

The machine rejected the fake notes and credited Rs 14,000 to the account.

The bank filed a complaint with police after an internal probe.

Police are investigating the source of the fake notes and whether Babu knew they were counterfeit.
