Father stabs daughter over money demand

Assistant professor Lakshmi Durga N was attacked with a knife by her father Nagendra, 52, at her college in Rajanukunte, Bengaluru, on July 25.

Nagendra demanded Rs 40 lakh from his daughter, claiming he had spent money on her education and wanted continued financial support after her marriage.

Lakshmi had moved out of the family home with her mother due to harassment, leaving Nagendra alone.

Nagendra stabbed Lakshmi in the abdomen, chest, and neck; she survived and is undergoing treatment.

Police arrested Nagendra and registered a case of attempt to murder; he confessed to the attack.
