Michael Massey's 2-run, 2-out homer in 8th helps Royals beat Tigers 5-4 for 2nd straight win

Michael Massey hit a go-ahead, two-run homer with two outs in the eighth inning to give the Kansas City Royals a 5-4 lead.

The Royals led 3-0 through four innings, but the Detroit Tigers scored four runs in the fifth, including a go-ahead two-run single by Dillon Dingler.

Steven Cruz pitched the ninth for his second save, striking out Riley Greene after walking and hitting the first two batters.

Lane Thomas led off the game with a homer and Luke Maile had an RBI double in the fourth for the Royals.

The Tigers have a week to decide whether to keep ace Tarik Skubal or trade him before the Aug. 3 trade deadline.
