College student stabbed by family friend in Bengaluru

A 17-year-old II PU science student in Bengaluru was stabbed in the neck by a family friend, Afsar, 30, after she skipped classes to watch the movie 'Jana Nayagan'.

Afsar, who runs a grocery shop, was named the girl's guardian during admission and confronted her about bunking on July 28, 2026.

The girl was discharged from hospital after treatment; Cottonpet police registered a case under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Section 118 and the Juvenile Justice Act.

Afsar was detained, but the victim's family requested no arrest, citing close relations; police will file a chargesheet.

The incident occurred in Siddarthanagar, Cottonpet, Bengaluru; the father filed the complaint.
