2 dead, over 24 hurt after double-decker bus overturns in Ganga Expressway in UP

Two passengers died and over 24 were injured after a double-decker bus overturned on the Ganga Expressway in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district.

Preliminary investigations indicate the driver may have fallen asleep, causing the bus to lose control and hit the central divider before overturning.

The accident occurred near the Lahrawan Interchange in the Bahjoi police station area; the bus was traveling from Bahraich to Jalandhar, Punjab.

Locals helped rescue passengers until emergency responders arrived; injured were taken to nearby hospital, with critical cases referred to higher medical centres.

Sambhal chief medical officer Dr Tarun Pathak confirmed two deaths and said several injured remain in critical condition.
