K’taka received Rs 90 cr funds for protected monuments in last 3 years

Karnataka received Rs 90 crore from the Centre over the last three years to maintain 506 centrally protected monuments.

Funding dropped from Rs 39.2 crore in 2023-24 to Rs 22.5 crore in 2024-25, then increased by Rs 6 crore in 2025-26.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat disclosed this in Rajya Sabha, replying to Congress MP Ajay Maken.

The World Heritage sites of Hampi and Pattadakal are among the funded monuments.

The ASI engaged local communities for heritage conservation; approvals were granted for visitor amenities at Gagan Mahal in Vijayapura and development of Bidar Fort, while a ropeway proposal for Madhugiri Fort was requested to be revised.
