Big Bear bald eagle Jackie's health update: Lead poisoning ruled out, bright and strong but critical after life-saving blood transfusion

Jackie, a bald eagle from Big Bear Valley, was critically injured in a fight with intruder eagles.

Lead poisoning has been ruled out as a cause of illness, but Jackie remains anemic and in critical condition.

Jackie received a life-saving blood transfusion from her mate Shadow.

Her kidney inflammation has improved, and she continues to perch and eat with slight energy improvement.

A treatment plan is being developed with specialists to determine the cause of anemia.
