Assam flood situation remains grim as 41 killed so far, over 727k affected

Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) reported 10 deaths on July 23, 2026, raising the flood toll to 41.

Over 727,000 people across 25 districts are affected, with 469 relief camps sheltering 18,000 people.

Indian Air Force, Army (Operation Jal Rahat), NDRF, SDRF, Assam Rifles, and Fire Services are conducting rescue operations; IAF airdropped 627 kg of supplies and rescued over 700 stranded people.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma cited heavy water flow from Nagaland as the primary cause, with over 100 persons missing and the death toll expected to rise.
