Indian seafarer killed after ship attacked in Black Sea; MEA condemns incident

An Indian seafarer was killed after the commercial vessel MV OMORFI was attacked while transiting the Black Sea on July 18, 2026, reportedly in Russian territorial waters.

The MEA condemned the attack on commercial shipping and called on all parties to ensure the safety of maritime navigation and global trade.

The vessel had 10 crew members, including three Indian nationals; one Indian died and the other two are safe.

The attack follows a similar incident on July 19 when MV Golden Leo was struck near Odesa, killing four Indian crew members and critically injuring one.
