Pakistan army spokesman criticizes Taliban, questions Islamic conduct

Pakistan's military spokesman Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry criticized the Taliban regime's ties with India's ruling BJP and RSS, calling them 'masters and slaves'.

Chaudhry invoked a Quranic verse against befriending 'kafirs' while reacting to Afghan Taliban minister Mawlawi Ataullah Omari's remarks praising India.

At a press conference in Rawalpindi on July 31, Chaudhry questioned whether the Taliban regime's conduct reflects Islamic values, citing treatment of women and children and issuing fatwas.

Omari, Afghanistan's Taliban minister of agriculture, had visited India and said he felt at home, saying 'Our DNA is one'.

Chaudhry's remarks were made during a briefing on Pakistan's counter-terrorism operations and security in Balochistan.
