Delegation to apprise Modi of drought in Karnataka: Shivakumar

Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar announced Deputy CM G Parameshwara is preparing a delegation to meet PM Modi in Delhi to apprise him of the worsening drought in Karnataka.

Shivakumar said reservoirs in Karnataka, except Almatti dam, are depleting due to lack of inflow and urged the PM's El Nino effect be considered seriously.

Shivakumar directed officials to ensure no shortage of drinking water and warned farmers not to rely on government water releases for sowing.

The CM instructed officials to enroll more farmers into the crop insurance scheme.

Cabinet expansion is expected next week; Shivakumar said the full minister team must work together to tackle the drought.
