in5points
The Haryana Human Rights Commission ordered state health authorities to fix and maintain mortuary facilities across all government hospitals.
The order was issued by HHRC member Deep Bhatia while disposing of two complaints about mortuary facilities at Civil Hospital, Sonipat, and BK Civil Hospital, Faridabad.
One complainant alleged the Civil Hospital, Sonipat mortuary lacked sufficient functional freezer facilities, causing improper body preservation and mental trauma.
For BK Civil Hospital, Faridabad, a report showed it has 14 dead body freezer chambers, with 10 fully functional and 4 non-functional.
The commission stated that preserving the dignity of the deceased is a fundamental responsibility of public healthcare institutions.
