Pune: PMC Reallocates ₹114.89 Crore For Road Upgrades Ahead Of 2027 International Cycling Event

  1. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) approved reallocating ₹114.89 crore to upgrade roads and electrical infrastructure for the Pune Grand Challenge Tour 2027, an international cycling event.

  2. The funds will be diverted from existing road development projects to cover the 84-km race route improvement.

  3. The Standing Committee directed an independent technical audit of roads repaired before the January 2026 cycling event after potholes developed on stretches including Gokhale Chowk, Paud Phata, Vanaz, Fergusson College Road, Shaniwar Wada, University Chowk and Nal Stop.

  4. Contractors must repair defects within the defect liability period at no extra cost to the civic body.
