STF busts Illegal firearms racket in Meerut; one held, 21 pistols recovered

Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and local police arrested Mohd Tajammul in Meerut and recovered 21 country-made .315 bore pistols, along with manufacturing equipment.

The accused confessed to manufacturing and supplying illegal firearms across western Uttar Pradesh for five years, selling each pistol for ₹4,000 to ₹5,000.

Tajammul is a repeat offender, previously arrested in 2022 with 37 country-made pistols, and resumed the illegal arms trade after release.

The operation was based on intelligence inputs and conducted near the BSNL office towards Mall Road in the Lalkurti police station area.
