Bengaluru residents oppose drain plan, say it wasn’t part of original layout

Residents of BDA Apartments on Balagere–Gunjur Road oppose a proposed stormwater drain (SWD) alignment through their complex, saying it is not part of the original layout.

Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) officials attempted to enter the premises for excavation without prior notice on June 20, which residents stopped.

The 13-year-old housing project still lacks basic infrastructure including an occupancy certificate, fire safety systems, and a functional sewage treatment plant.

Residents have written to Bengaluru development minister Krishna Byre Gowda demanding a halt to the work and verification of land records.

Over 200 families are affected; residents warn the drain would impact safety and property values, contradicting their registered sale deeds.
