On compassionate route: Bus driver serves hot meals to poor every morning in Bengaluru

Krishnamurthy HO, a BMTC bus driver in Bengaluru, distributes 10 hot breakfast packets to homeless and needy people every morning on his route from Uttarahalli to Majestic.

He collects freshly prepared food from Sai Tiffins after starting his shift at 6.15am and typically finishes distributing all packets by 7.30am.

Krishnamurthy was inspired to start the initiative during the Covid-19 lockdown after seeing an auto driver's family struggle; he spends around Rs 7,000-8,000 per month.

He drives bus KA-53-F-0228 attached to BMTC Depot-33 and safely pulls over at bus stops or junctions to hand out meals, often being recognized by regular recipients.

The act gained public attention after passenger Rajani Rao posted about it on social media, though Krishnamurthy says he never sought publicity.
