Punjab: CBI court rejects key accused’s bail plea in ₹13 lakh graft case

A special CBI court in Chandigarh rejected the regular bail plea of Vikas Goyal alias Vicky Goyal in a ₹13-lakh graft case.

The court observed the allegations indicate systematic misuse of the anti-corruption framework for personal gain, extending beyond a routine bribery case.

The case involves a fictitious vigilance complaint allegedly generated through ChatGPT to extort money from a public servant.

Prosecution alleged that Vikas Goyal, along with Om Parkash Singh Rana and others, demanded ₹13 lakh and a mobile phone to close a disproportionate assets complaint.

The bail was denied due to prima facie evidence of active conspiracy, gravity of allegations, and risk of witness influence.
